For a workstation, fedora will be faster with its fancy 2.6 kernel. 
RHEL/WBEL is all about stability, not necessarily speed. 

I would like to run the 2.6 kernel on wbel, just for the swappiness
feature in 2.6, I am now running 2.4.21-20xxx which seems to have
resolved the excessive swapping on the default 2.4.21-15xx Respin 1
kernel. 

Free now says:

As opposed to almost entirely using up my swap space :)
